TROPARION FOR THE RESURRECTION- TONE 8 You descended from on high, O Merciful One. You accepted the three day burial to free us from our sufferings. O Lord, our Life and Resurrection, glory to You! TROPARION FOR THE FORE-FEAST OF THE MEETING- TONE 1 The celestial choir of heavenly angels bends down to the earth and sees the First-born of all creation being carried into the Temple as a babe by a Mother who has not known man, and in amazement sings with us a pre-festal hymn. TROPARION FOR ST. BRIDGET OF KILDARE- TONE 4 Instructed by the discourse of the holy Patrick, you did arrive at the uttermost west, heralding the Orient which hath visited us from on high. Wherefore, we bless you, O venerable mother Bridget, and cru out to you: “ Pray on behalf of our souls!” KONTAKION FOR THE RESURRECTION- TONE 8 By rising from the tomb, You raised the dead and resurrected Adam. Eve exults in Your Resurrection, and the world celebrates Your rising from the dead, O greatly Merciful One! KONTAKION FOR ST. BRIDGET OF KILDARE- TONE 6 Rejecting your noble rank and loving the godly monastic life, from the wood of the oak you did raise up a convent, the first in your land; and having there united a multitude of nuns to God, you did teach the surrounding lands to cry to the Lord: “ Have mercy on us!” KONTAKION FOR THE FOREFEAST OF THE MEETING- TONE 6 The Word unseen with the Father, now is seen in the flesh, ineffably born of the Virgin, and is given into the arms of the priest and Elder. Let us worship Him, our True God. PROKEIMENON- TONE 8 Pray and make your vows before the Lord our God! V: In Judah God is known; His name is great in Israel. Pray and make your vows before the Lord our God! TODAY’S EPISTLE READING IS FROM THE FIRST EPISTLE OF ST. PAUL TO TIMOTHY 4:9-15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. These things command and teach. Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. TODAY’S GOSPEL READING IS FROM ST. LUKE 19:1-10 Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “ Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “ He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.” Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “ Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “ Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” We welcome all who are worshiping with us this morning. We invite everyone to join us for Coffee Hour following Divine Liturgy, provided this morning by Rich and Brenda Minto, with all proceeds to benefit our Church.
